Sustainability runs through everything we do, influencing our growth strategy, day-to-day operations, and our commitment to customers and local communities. We aim to improve People, Planet and Progress. Everything is led by our priorities: Community, Climate, Resources, Trust, Generations and Equality.
Our sustainability priorities
Community
For more than 40 years, we have supported the local community by partnering with local suppliers, hiring local talent, and aiding charities such as Improving Lives, Movember, KidsOut, and Trussell Trust.
Climate
Taking responsibility for our environmental impact is central to how we operate, and we have set ourselves the following targets to support a more sustainable future:
- Being Carbon Neutral by 2028.
- Achieving Net Zero by 2050.
- Working with our suppliers to encourage Net Zero practices.
Equality
We actively empower our people by breaking down gender stereotypes, promoting opportunities in tech, and fostering a balanced, supportive workplace for everyone.
We work closely with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), investing over 1,300 hours to help create a more inclusive digital experience for all users.
Generations
We promote and nurture homegrown talent by connecting with local schools and universities, providing both placement and work experience opportunities. Investing in our staff through the MHR Academy has created a wealth of progression and opportunities for our employees, and 20% of them have been with us for ten years or more.
Trust
We uphold fair social and ethical standards and promote well-being across our workforce. We are also committed to the responsible management of personal data, as demonstrated by our accreditation to:

Our approach to sustainability runs through every stage of our supply chain, reflected in our headquarters with EV charging points and a solar-panel roof that supports on-site energy use, while creating an innovative, inclusive workplace that empowers our people.

We were proud to achieve Planet Mark Business Certification for the second year in a row. Planet Mark is a leading carbon reduction and Net Zero specialist, and with their support we continue to reduce our measured footprint annually.

We are actively working towards achieving net zero by 2050 with the support of Planet Mark to reduce our footprint each year to achieve this. Before then, we aim to be a carbon-neutral business by 2028. How we will achieve this is outlined throughout our carbon commitments and carbon framework.

Yes. We fully recognise the impact of our actions on climate change. We’re taking tangible steps towards a net zero carbon future and tracking our energy consumption across all areas of the business.

We work closely with Improving Lives, a Nottingham charity supporting vulnerable adults, to refresh their garden for service users. We also collect clothes for their Vinted store and raise funds through the Robin Hood Half Marathon. Additionally, we support other charities like the Trussell Trust Food Bank, KidsOut, and Movember.
