Writtle University College, a leading UK institution for land-based, animal, sport and health education, has chosen MHR’s iTrent to improve its HR and payroll services.

Founded in 1893, Writtle University College achieved university college status in 2016. The institution’s HR team was seeking a solution that could help to digitise and automate key people processes and HESA returns, improve payroll accuracy, and provide an integrated system with a single point of entry for employees. The new software also needed to be able to handle team members with multiple positions in the organisation and devolve more responsibility back to employees and managers at the University College. At the same time, a key objective was to implement a system that could reduce time spent on day-to-day administrative tasks, reducing the administrative burden for line managers, as well as the HR team.

Writtle University College saw an ideal partner in MHR. They were particularly attracted by the HR specialist’s expertise in higher education, and the company’s ability to handle the often complex requests of HR in the sector. MHR already administers pay for nearly a quarter of the UK’s university employees, while iTrent is used by almost half of the country’s universities.

Janine Rusbridge, Director of HR & Student Services (Chartered MCIPD) at Writtle University College, said: "When considering new HR and Payroll solutions, MHR were quickly able to demonstrate their expertise in the higher education sector, anticipating our requirements and providing the reassurances we needed to be confident in our choice. We’re excited to be working with an organisation that clearly knows our industry so well, alongside the challenges that our HR team regularly faces. We’re confident that iTrent will be perfectly placed to deliver the automation, digitisation and efficiency we are seeking.”

Anton Roe, CEO, MHR, said:

"The higher education industry is a sector where MHR has a great deal of experience improving processes for HR, payroll and more. We’re pleased to be working with Writtle University College as they embark on their journey towards automating and digitising key aspects of their people practices with iTrent, and we look forward to developing our relationship with the university college over the years ahead.”
