City of Bristol College

Supporting more than 850 colleagues, City of Bristol College uses iTrent to streamline HR processes and improve the employee experience.

The challenge

Like many organisations in the further education sector, City of Bristol College operates within a challenging funding environment. The college needed to maximise the value of its existing technology investment while ensuring its people systems remained robust, compliant and adaptable. It also wanted to reduce manual administration, improve reporting capabilities and create a better experience for employees, managers and people services teams.

The solution

Working closely with MHR, the college continued to enhance its use of iTrent to digitise and streamline key people processes. This included moving paper-based appraisals online, introducing a holiday purchase scheme and improving recruitment workflows. Through Assist Time consultancy and knowledge transfer, MHR supported the college in delivering these developments while building internal expertise and maximising the value of the platform.

Key benefits

  • Appraisal completion rates increased from 54% to 98%
  • 50 colleagues purchased additional leave through the holiday purchase scheme
  • Improved recruitment experience for candidates, managers and People Services
  • Enhanced reporting capabilities supporting operational and statutory requirements
  • Reduced manual administration through digitised people processes
  • Ongoing compliance with changing payroll legislation and employment requirements

"iTrent is a good fit for an education provider. The software works well with our type of organisation and many other education providers already use the platform, which allows us to connect and help each other with hints and tips." - Andy Hilbery, People Systems Coordinator
