DisruptHR Nottingham Raises Over £700 for Charity

Nottingham’s first ever DisruptHR event raised over £700 for local community charity, Groundwork Greater Nottingham, which helps people get into work.

The event, hosted by People First at the Canalhouse, saw over 80 business leaders and HR professionals enjoy an informal, yet thought-provoking evening which challenged current thinking in the areas of human resources and people management.

During the event a line-up of speakers shared their disruptive ideas and insights on a range of topics, including leadership, talent, culture, mental health, wellbeing and technology in a series of five-minute lightning presentations.

The entire proceeds from the event were donated to Groundwork Greater Nottingham, a charity which works with local people and organisations to help individuals get back into work.

Its Towards Work scheme helps applicants of all ages enter and stay in meaningful employment by developing their skills and helping them overcome logistical barriers such as childcare, care responsibilities, health issues.

Groundwork Greater Nottingham partners with local organisations from across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire who offer work placements to individuals to help them develop their skills and gain experience in the workplace.

Mark Williams, Chief Product Officer at People First says: “The first DisruptHR Nottingham event was a great success, providing local business owners and HR professionals with lots of new ideas and inspiration for their organsiation while raising money for a worthwhile cause that helps tackle the long-term effects of unemployment by supporting individuals to reach their full potential.”

Matt Hanrahan, Senior Account Manager at Experience Works an alternative and ethical recruitment service run by Groundwork Greater Nottingham says: “Disrupt HR is a great addition to the region’s business event scene, and we thank People First for donating the proceeds to Groundwork Greater Nottingham.

“Many people in the region are committed to working but find themselves unemployed through no fault of their own. This money will make a real difference to people’s lives, giving them the best possible opportunity to improve their prospects of securing employment.”
