Severn Trent extends successful payroll partnership with MHR

The utilities supplier, which provides services to more than 4.3 million homes and businesses in the Midlands region, has been a partner of MHR for more than 17 years.

During that time MHR has played a key role in helping Severn Trent generate efficiencies and cost savings from its payroll as well as supporting their compliance to legislation changes.

The partnership extension underlines Severn Trent’s commitment to create the best possible work experience for its 6,500 UK and Ireland-based employees, with an efficient payroll process ensuring they are paid accurately and on time.

Severn Trent’s people-focused company culture was recognised earlier this year with the organisation ranked number 44 in Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work in 2019, based on anonymous employee reviews.

iTrent’s ability to integrate seamlessly with Severn Trent’s SAP ERP solution was a key factor in their decision to continue their relationship, enabling the system to be fully customised to meet their precise needs with employee data shared seamlessly without the need for any manual data entry.

Joe Carter, HR Manager at Severn Trent says: “Over the past 17 years, we have developed complete trust in MHR and the iTrent solution. During this time MHR has gained a deep understanding of our business, and the support and expertise of their outsourcing team has been invaluable to ensuring our payroll process is not only delivered successfully but continually evolves to support our growth and strategic goals.

“Any possible perceived benefits of going elsewhere were completely outweighed by the risk of losing such a trusted relationship, so renewing our partnership for another five years was an easy decision to make.

“With eight payrolls spanning six businesses to process, it is important our payroll process is able to manage our complex needs. iTrent provides the functionality to manage our people in a single system whilst empowering our internal HR and payroll teams to perform their day-to-day tasks more efficiently, freeing up their time to focus on core business activities.

“Furthermore, the ability for our people to access their payslip easily via self-service means they have immediate access to the information they need.”

As a hosted customer with outsourced payroll, Severn Trent has been able to work in close collaboration with MHR to ensure its payroll processes remains as efficient as possible.

MHR’s service and support has evolved with technological developments in iTrent, and Severn Trent has been able to benefit from updates to their payroll processes.

With new developments in automation in the pipeline for outsourced payroll customers, Severn Trent will be one of the first to experience these changes.

Anton Roe, CEO at MHR comments: “We are delighted Severn Trent has chosen to continue its partnership with our outsourced payroll team, taking our relationship over two decades. Our long-standing relationship with Severn Trent illustrates how we work in collaboration with our partners to develop iTrent to meet the demands of the modern workplace and fulfil our customers’ needs.
