As a key subsidiary within the Crown Imperial Group of companies, Waterline offers one of the most extensive ranges of kitchen furniture, appliances, sinks, taps and ancillary kitchen products in the market.

Prior to working with MHR, Waterline had made use of an alternative Payroll provider, but realised that they needed a HR platform linked to payroll to streamline their processes.  They decided to use this opportunity to consolidate their business systems in one place. After seeing how People First’s payroll module could revolutionise their previous manual approach, they knew it was time to switch. Integrating payroll with HR and finance features was also incredibly appealing, as it would reduce workload and data siloing.

There were several key features that made Waterline keen to work with MHR and with People First specifically. Firstly, the cloud based mobile app would improve employee engagement, and ensured that their strong company culture could be reinforced from the moment a new hire is onboarded.

Of particular interest was the automation of HR and pay data, allowing employees to self-service and access their own information and resolve their daily HR needs with minimal intervention. This will reduce the HR team’s administrative workload and improve everyone’s employee experience. Real-time payroll was also appealing, as it improves employee financial wellbeing and improves the payroll team’s workload.

In addition to HR and payroll, Waterline wanted to update their finance function. They also selected an integrated PowerBI module to support this, helping them boost their data driven decisions making. Board reports will see a marked improvement, as they can be instantly updated through live embedding into Office 365 products.

Crucially, People First will grow alongside Waterline, letting them add new features as they become relevant and scaling well as the company grows.

Karen Sturgess, Director at Waterline, explains: “To address the capacity challenges that come with growth while simultaneously improving product availability, we needed to modernise our operation. We explored solutions from several vendors during the selection process. However, MHR took the time to understand our business as well as help us to identify areas where we can improve.”

Anton Roe, CEO, MHR says: “Waterline has a passion for exceptional customer service and it is at the  heart of their operations. This is something we strongly align with at MHR. Providing the team with our People First platform will help ensure that all HR, payroll and finance processes are streamlined from one place. People First will grow with Waterline, meeting its needs now and in the future, and we’re proud and excited to be part of that journey.”
