MHR’s Graduate Management Programme doubled for 2020

MHR has doubled its graduate management programme for 2020, with four new employees ready to start in September.

This year, MHR decided to expand the sought-after scheme following an exceptionally high standard of entries.

In addition, the HR, payroll and analytics expert has recently recruited four engineering graduates from the University of Lincoln, De Montfort University, University of Derby, and Loughborough University, who are working on MHR’s cutting-edge software development.

“We have always valued graduate entrants, as well as the large proportion of long-serving employees we are fortunate to employ, as we continue to innovate and build the foundations of our future workforce,” said Jessica Mills, Executive Vice Chairman at MHR.

“Opportunities for young people have become more important than ever before, and we look forward to welcoming the new candidates into the MHR family, where they will gain experience across a range of business areas along with all the training and support they need to thrive.”

MHR’s graduate management programme offers university graduates a high calibre of training to become future leaders of the 36-year-old financially independent business, which has continued to grow throughout 2020, with 52 new employees recruited since January. This has taken the total number of people employed by MHR to nearly 700.

The two-year graduate programme includes placements in key departments, a three-month international experience and assignments ranging from new product launches, to HR and workplace market research, customer consultancy projects and development of emerging technology.

Beth Fear, who is 18 months into the programme, said: “My journey has been fantastic. I’ve gained experience in marketing, professional services, managed services, engineering, product planning, sales and analytics.”

“MHR offers me great support and drive for my future ambitions. By having a mentor, I feel supported throughout each placement and have the guidance to shape my placements to better my learning. It has also taught me a lot of personal lessons about aspiring to be the best you can and the importance of always upskilling yourself.”

MHR’s software development team also supports the development of young professionals, with Software Delivery Leads Reece Thompson and Aaron White mentoring a team of second year BSc Computer Science students at the University of Nottingham, who were briefed to develop an app that uses augmented reality to make one- to-one meetings more engaging. The company also sponsors a team prize at the University of Nottingham’s Computer Science Group Project open day, as part of this initiative.

MHR’s graduate management programme will open for 2021 graduates this September.
