MHR launch new “GDPR Staff Awareness” e-learning course
Preparations for GDPR are underway in many UK organisations; however, the added burden of having to train all staff is putting some under enormous pressure.
With only five months to go until the regulation comes into place, MHR is supporting UK employers to meet this challenge by introducing a new GDPR Staff Awareness e-Learning course. The course has been designed to help organisations train their employees on the principles, roles and responsibilities of GDPR.
The course covers a number of topics including:
- What GDPR is and when it becomes legislation
- The key roles and responsibilities within GDPR
- What constitutes personal and sensitive data
- GDPR best practice principles
- The rights of individuals
- The consequences of data breaches
CPD accredited, the course takes just 45 minutes to finish and includes a short test to validate the employees’ understanding of GDPR. Once completed, a report is made available to senior leaders showing who has finished the training, which provides valuable evidence that training has taken place – a requirement of the new regulation.
Julie Lock, Service Development Director at MHR says: “Data protection is not new. We have had laws in place protecting the rights of individuals for over 60 years. However, over the last 20 years or so the way in which organisations and public authorities collect, use and share information has changed significantly. GDPR replace current EU data protection legislation and influence the revision of the current UK legislation. Its purpose though remains the same – to protect the rights and privacy of individuals.
“Statistics show that 64% of data breaches occur due to human error so it is critical that employees understand their roles and responsibilities under GDPR and that they are properly equipped through appropriate and regular training and awareness programmes. MHR’s GDPR e-Learning course will help organisations to evidence that training has taken place and demonstrate compliance under this new regime.”
