We are proud to be supporting the 200th anniversary celebrations for the game of rugby, which was created on the playing fields of Rugby School back in 1823.

To mark the occasion, the school is holding a festival of sport, as part of which, MHR will be sponsoring the Warwickshire Schools U14s boys and girls sevens rugby tournament.

Through this sponsorship we will be helping to widen access to young people from all backgrounds and genders, to learn about, and engage in, a global sport that was created in Rugby, England. Participation on the day will be free to all children, allowing everyone to embrace the spirit of the game.

Any excess funds will be used to support the 1823 bursary, which is awarded to talented young rugby players each year, affording them a place at the prestigious Rugby School.

Jessica Mills, Chairman, MHR, comments:

“It is a real privilege to be able to play a role in the 200th anniversary celebrations at Rugby School, especially as in doing so we are enabling hundreds of young boys and girls to get out, be active and enjoy the wonderful sport of rugby.

“We have worked with Rugby School for several years now and our two organisations share a number of important values. As such it was a very straightforward decision for us to provide any support we could. It is sure to be a fantastic year and MHR is proud to be taking part.”
