Continue to support our local community

At MHR, we recognise the positive influence our organisation can have within our local economy. We support our local community through working with local charities, hiring local talent and using local suppliers wherever possible.

We are committed to:

  • Continuously supporting our local communities through charitable events
  • Increasing awareness of job opportunities locally

Each year we focus on supporting chosen charities. In 2022, we supported Rainbows Children’s Hospice through restoring their eco garden and creating an environment the children's families would enjoy. We aim to expand our involvement in local charitable efforts in the coming months.

Supporting charitable events

MHR is proud to support Andrew Osborne, a Leicestershire-based businessman, who has committed to rowing solo across the Atlantic in honour of his late daughter.

Amy was only 25 when she died from an undiagnosed heart condition. All funds raised will go to the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), which offers lifesaving screenings to over 30,000 young people (aged 35 and under) a year.

Three-year partnership with Rutland County Show

Our involvement in the Rutland County Show reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the local community and sustainability. The one-day event focuses on championing local farmers and producers as well as livestock shows and much more.

MHR has existing strong ties with Rutland, as our business founder John Mills and wife Elizabeth Mills are local residents.

Hosting recruitment events in the local area

Our in-person recruitment events create networking opportunities for the local community. It’s a chance for people to explore what MHR has to offer and possible career paths open to them.

Last year saw hundreds of local job seekers attend – learning about what a career at MHR would offer. These careers events demonstrate our commitment to sourcing local talent.

Aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Our commitments contribute towards creating a sustainable, local community. Through providing job opportunities and using local suppliers, we directly impact economic growth. The increased employment of local people means a significant financial injection back into the community.

Our actions and efforts in the local community emphasise the importance of sustainability to our people and planet.
